All Cracked Up

All of these cracks indicate serious structural damage.

This very large and deep crack is from the right window in the Master Bedroom.
Another crack in the Master.  This one is on the side with the left window.
This deep crack runs from the top of the molding around the closet door in the Master Bedroom, from the upper left corner.
A crack down the corner of the wall, and a separation of the baseboards in the Master.
Cracks form at the bottom left of the Master bedroom window.

A crack above the door jamb in the hallway.
Same door in the hallway, crack in a  different location.
Can you make out the streak that is undoubtedly from water leakage?  It is a slight yellow, vertical stain.

This crack is harder to see because of the lighting.  This is a long, horizontal crack to the left of the closet that houses the AC/furnace.

What's Not to Love?

The "fine" contractor installed this mess under the sink in the Master Bath.  You can see all the way to the back of the cabinet --- that there is no back.  And to the left, a piece of sheet rock is torn.
 Yet another view.
Looking to the right... just a real mess.  The back is actually exposed to the outside.

Uncovered Outlet

The contractor (really?) left the plate off of this electrical outlet, just above the water source for the washer.  Nice job!

Bad Floors and Trim

Here we go again... bad paint job on the trim around a door way, also shows the bad brick floor and old carpet.

Expensive Paint Job

This is a photo, looking at the molding around the ceiling, next to a built-in book shelf.  What kind of skills did these painters have?
Again, another shot looking at the ceiling molding where you can see an actual hole to the right.

A Useless Door

If you look at the top right hand corner of the door, you can see how the door is not hung properly and therefore does not open or close.  If you want to use it, one must bend down and remove a piece of the slate patio in order to provide enough room for the door to swing open.

Gutters

If you look closely, can you see what is wrong with this picture?  Can you see that the gutter was installed on the wrong side of the post which makes it impossible to close the gate?  Now that took some brains!
Some kind of old wire or tube that runs from the facia boards or the roof overhang along side the gutter.
A gutter that goes no where.  When it rains, the water pours out in all directions, falling from this little stub of a gutter.  What were they thinking?

Broken Slate

The patio was once a show piece, with its beautiful slate.  Now it is a tripping hazard.  Broken slate lies everywhere.

As one walks along the patio, one can hear the ker-plunk of the slate that no longer adheres to the solid surface below it.  I have stumbled over the tiles many a time.
 Careful, careful!

Hose Bibs That No Longer Work

An old hose bib barely hanging on, that must be covered in the winter, even though it does not work.

Old and Broken Fountains

Once a flowing rock waterfall.  It is curious that the people who built it would put it right up against the house where it could do damage to the brick.  It has not functioned in many years and now only provides a place for weeds to grow and rats to breed.

An old bird bath with a broken top.  Right next to the gas main.

The base of an old water fountain that hasn't worked in many, many years.

One can see all the way to the plumbing of a has-been rock waterfall that hasn't worked in many years.  It's a good place for rats to hide, though.
The fish was once an upright water fountain, blowing water out of its mouth.  You can see the tail is broken off.  It is much too heavy to move.  I doubt that even two or three burly men could move it.

The Grecian girl carrying an urn over her shoulder is broken at the waist, also a remnant of a long-ago time.

Remnants of an Old Sprinkler System

These are the remnants of an old sprinkler system.  Some metal, some plastic.  Nothing has worked for many years.  They are just hazards in the yard.

Broken Brick Wall

One of the walls to the side garden has completely split near the bottom and on the left side.  One good push and the whole thing would collapse.

Broken Brick Work

Simulated brick tiles have long ago gone missing from the entry way.
